PLAYA DEL CARMEN, SOLIDARIDAD, October 13th.- In the first public access to the beach that is located in phase one of the Playacar complex, the containment barriers of Grupo Arco were found, which were initially installed, without success, in “Playa de Fundador”, in addition to their work material are piled large quantities of sargassum that has been producing unpleasant odors for weeks.
It’s been three weeks that Grupo Arco’s “oil spill” barriers remain in the “Cunaro de Piedra” access, in the Playacar phase 1, in addition to several white bags containing the sargassum seaweeds, tourists who usually go to that area of the beach. They can no longer enjoy that stretch of the coast because it is covered by a mountain of seaweed, which not only gives the tourist a bad appearance, but also has a bad smell.
Also, company personnel indicated that the barriers that had already begun to be placed, on that side, had to be removed by the winds that are constantly on the beach, but so far they still do not replace them, besides that they do not they pick up and much less remove the sargassum that has already accumulated, since they commented that they lack sufficient personnel to carry out the work, so they are hiring people.
It should be remembered that due to the large quantities of sargassum that atypically came to the coast of the state, since last April, and that severely affected the high summer season since the sands were covered by tons of this seaweed , the government hired Grupo Arco to solve this natural problem, investing 11 million pesos ($ 584 000.00 USD), out of a total of 240 million pesos ($ 12,7 million USD) that were destined for these actions throughout the state, said 11 million ($ 584 000.00 USD) were paid only to this company that began tests in mid-August and proved to be a resounding failure, as the structures did not prevent the sargassum from reaching the shore of this holiday resort.
Although Grupo Arco did not give results when it first placed the barriers on Fundadores beach, it is now in the southern part of the coastal strip waiting to reinstate the structures.
